What do you do with your leftovers

Whenever I finish a piece of tatting, there is always some thread left on the shuttle.  Too much to throw away but not enough to bother winding back on the ball.  So I make butterflies or flowers, and use them for cards or simply putting in the envelope when sending something.

  1. I need to do that! That's a cute idea.

  2. Great idea! I usually save shorter bits for using to hide thread ends (when you have to tat over a looped thread and use it to pull your ends back through a ring or a chain).

  3. That's exactly what I do, 1 metre left makes a Jane Eb SCMR butterfly, less makes flowers, even less ties up skeins for dyeing, less that 3in gets thrown away!!

  4. I think a lot of people do the butterflies or so I've heard. That's very frugal of you!

  5. I do that too. I make the butterfles and I do little (I call them) flowers...just a ring with lots of picots and I put them on cards or whatever. I hate to throw away thread and try not to if I can help it. Happy Holidays!
