I get arthritis in my hands, and found that by the time I had wound a post shuttle, my thumb hurt too much to tat !! I bought a shuttle winder from Tatting & Design and it has made a great difference to my hobby. The cream jam jar type lid screws off and the shuttle opens, when slid in the hole in the middle. When screwed back on, it can be turned by the knarled nob at the other end of the spindle and the thread winds on the shuttle. It has certainly helped me.
Apologies

I want one of those. I have seen it at Roseground, but they are kind of expensive. I guess if it is the only thing that makes the difference with pain in your hands then it is worth it.
ReplyDeleteI just solve my problem with winding post shuttles by winding bobbins, LOL! I am seriously tempted to get one of those bobbin shuttles that uses sewing bobbins and getting one of those $20 sewing machine portable bobbin winders to wind 'em up!
I just got mine & am loving it!! It makes winding shuttles so much less of a chore, but unwinding is a snap!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations... I love mine
