This is a blog about my Tatting. My stitching can be seen on Wendystitches.blogspot.com. More of my handicrafts can be seen on Wendy's Crafty Hands at www.handicrafts.org.uk
I tatted this little heart for my daughter's birthday. It is in Lizbeth 20. The pattern is one of Rosemarie Peel's. A lovely and very easy pattern to tat.
This Hobby Horse is one of Pam Palmer's designs. I think he is cute and I love her designs. I used Lizbeth thread 20. The eye is a disc just stuck on. The pattern has a tatted one but I quite like this.
This is another TIAS organised this time by Lady Shuttlemaker . It is a cute little train named the Piccadilly Express. She also gave us the pattern for some trucks and when they are tatted, I will post a photo of the complete train. Thank you Sherry, I know you are a busy lady.
This year Jane Eborallorganised her TIAS again. Each couple of days she publishes a set of instructions and drawings which can be tatted. She doesn't tell what it will be when finished, so we all tat and imagine, guessing, until gradually the piece emerges. I didn't guess it was a pram, until the hood went on. Clever Jane. They are always good fun to do.
I tatted this heart to put on a card for my daughter's birthday. It is another one of Jon Yussoff's designs. It looks so pretty with this thread. Anchor Mercer crochet no 20. The daisies are joined by split rings and the chain added after. Jon has tatted a two colour one which looks entirely different.
I tatted this pretty bookmark from Ladytats pattern Daisy and Butterfly Bookmark. I love the way she has made each butterfly join to the next one and the little flower petals. So sweet. The long chain to join to the last flower is made with Josephine knots. The thread I used is an Anchor Mercer Crochet no 20 A very pretty variegated thread.
This is the finished Billy Goat Gruff that I tatted in the TIAS designed by Jane Eborall. The whole pattern is here... There are lots of lovely free patterns on Jane site. Well worth a visit.
Sadly this week we lost a lovely person in Tatland Gina (Tattinggoddess) I didn't know her personally but enjoyed her blog and her comments on the Tattinggoddess List. She will be greatly missed.
This is what Lorena Finnerty sent me in the Secret Santa Exchange. The pretty Tatted mini doily she adapted from Susanne Schwenke's 'Musterbeschreibung' I love the colours. The thread is an HDT by Karey Solomon. Must find a really nice pattern to tat with that. The beautifully neat bracelet, Lorena made herself from Parachute cord. Some scrummy chocolates and a cute little note clip board. How lucky am I !!
Here are some Christmas Medallions. They are designed by Nancy Tracy. She has the Be-stitchedweb site. I tatted both of these medallions for Christmas swaps. I hope the recipients like them as much as I enjoyed tatting them.
The thread I used is Altin Basak 50, equivalent to about 20 in other threads. I find the gold filament running through the thread breaks very easily when drawing the rings up and is nearly impossible to untat. So, if you tat with it, concentrate on the chart and don't make mistakes !! It looks very pretty though and is worth the effort.
I taught myself to tat from books, as a teenager, but had never met another tatter. Joining on-line groups has given me a new enthusiasm for the art, and enabled me to learn new techniques. I have even tried my hand at designing.
